(KUE, September 7, 2026) — A delegation from JAMK University of Applied Sciences, Finland, comprising Mr. Graham Burns, Mrs. Sanna Paananen, and Mr. Jarkko Blomqvist, visited Kotebe University of Education (KUE) to explore opportunities for collaboration in digital transformation, digital pedagogy, and technology-enhanced education. During the visit, the delegation held discussions with KUE senior management and members of the Gaming for Ethiopia (G4ET) project team, focusing on strengthening institutional cooperation and advancing KUE’s digital transformation agenda.
The welcoming address was delivered by Dr. Teshome Nekatibeb, President of KUE, who highlighted the University’s long history and its transformation into a specialized university of education. He noted that KUE has undertaken significant institutional reforms in recent years, including curriculum revision, initiatives to strengthen internationalization, and the development of innovative academic programs, including double-major opportunities.
Dr. Teshome emphasized the growing importance of digital transformation to the future of higher education and expressed KUE’s commitment to working closely with JAMK and other partners to successfully implement the proposed initiatives.
Dr. Alebachew Kemisso, Vice President for Academic Affairs, highlighted the alignment between KUE’s digital transformation agenda and Ethiopia’s broader Digital Ethiopia 2030 vision. He explained that KUE has been reviewing its curriculum and introducing new approaches to strengthen technology-supported teaching and learning. He further noted that collaboration with JAMK presents an important opportunity to accelerate these efforts and enhance the quality of education at the University.
Speaking about the project, Dr. Fekede Tuli, a KUE lecturer and member of the project team, emphasized the importance of digital technology in contemporary education. He noted that the G4ET project could contribute significantly to KUE’s digital transformation, strengthen institutional collaboration, and support the establishment of a Digital Technology Center at the University. Such a center could also enable KUE to share digital expertise and provide technical and professional support to other educational institutions.
During the meeting, the JAMK delegation presented the G4ET project concept, outlining its strategic objectives, planned activities, expected outcomes, responsibilities, and implementation approaches. The participants also discussed KUE’s ongoing digital transformation journey, including the review and implementation of its Digital Transformation Strategy.
As part of the visit, the delegation toured KUE’s digital and educational facilities, including classrooms, ICT laboratories, the library, and the proposed site for the Pedagogical Innovation Hub. The tour provided the JAMK team with an opportunity to assess KUE’s existing digital infrastructure and identify potential areas for collaboration and further development.
The discussions concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening the partnership, exploring areas of synergy, and advancing practical steps toward the implementation of the G4ET project and KUE’s broader digital transformation agenda.
